OLW BLOG HOP February Prompt
Welcome Hoppers! Thanks for coming to take a peek at my blog! If you are new please take a look around at my various arts & crafts and let me know what you think! No time now? Bookmark me or put me in your feeder on RSS and come back when you have more time please. After my blog there is Rebekah at http://istampscrapcraft.blogspot.com and many more after that so I’m sure your day will be full of inspiration.
I’m truy enjoying my foray into online scrapbooking classes and Ali Edwards One Little Word class has been the diving board that has immersed me into the wonder world. I am so thankful. I have to admit though, I have discovered I have some creative issues this month! I’m not the photographer in the family. I take the everyday shots, yes, but I had a rough time with this February Prompt from Ali. I’ve always loved scrapping the pictures of our lives and I can appreciate beautiful photography but I got this mental block on this assignment and I have only about half of the pictures picked out.
My One Little Word may be part of the problem. It’s more of a concept than a noun. Participate is my word. I had thought of setting up a game board and take some micro shots of it and find a fun angle on things. I also still might get a picture of my kids riding their bikes but other than that I’m kinda stumped.
My husband took this gorgeous shot of some strangers walking on the beach at sunrise that hit me as appropriate. I want to “participate” in my own life more activily so this fit for me.
Any suggestions would be awesome and very much appreciated. Below is the main list if you are lost and need to figure out who’s blogs you have seen or haven’t. I’m number 14 on the list so Rebekah is where you should go next. If not start at the beginning at Margie’s blog the lovely lady who conceived of this adventure.

Enjoyed your post. Photo ideas, could you take some self-portraits of yourself participating in your craft or with your family activities?
What an amazing photo! In terms of ideas what led you to your word? What do you want to participate in or have more of in your life? I’d take photos of that.
I suppose picking a verb made it easier to capture photos! Maybe you can take photos while participating – while you’re on your bike, taking a walk with your family, playing a board game. That kind of thing. I don’t know that the photos have to be so literal when the word is conceptual. Right? Enjoy your March!
I’m having trouble with my photos this month for the word REALIZE. For Participate, I think you really need to be in the shots as well – showing that you are engaging! Good luck!
I think “participate” is a great word, it fits into so many different aspects of our lives and is a great reminder to try new things and join in
Lovely photo! My first thought for your word was the board game idea or a sporting event. Or maybe people sitting in church. I know I had a hard time with my word too. Best wishes on getting your word captured.
gorgeous photos. And keep with the everyday photos……..those are the best ones o of all.
There are so many things you “participate” in on a daily basis – cooking, cleaning, child care, pet care, self care, reading, crafts, watching television, online classes – just about anything could fit for this prompt, so just go for it!
I admit, I’m sort of a participation junky — things that came to mind were voting (it is election day here), joining a neighborhood group, volunteering, being active in an online forum, message board, etc… or just being active in life in whatever way makes you happy — say engaging with friends rather than being by yourself. You could photograph or take a screen shot of these. For some reason, I tend towards the community side of participate, but possibly just m y poli sci background talking.
Wow, gorgeous photo! But, I think being the family photographer is a fabulous way to document your word. Your photos don’t have to be artsy or anything fancy. Just your own bird’s eye view of how you participate in the world. You could carry that camera around and just snap shots of whatever it is that you’re participating in at the moment. Blessings as you continue on your journey…
Wow that is one stunning photo your husband took! I cannot get over the sky! As far as photo suggestions for “participate,” I love your idea of the board game. How about a group shot of some kids playing ball together? Or a sign (or screenshot) that says “sign up here.” You should also think about what the word means to you specifically… what is it you want to participate IN this year? Take a photo of that. And be sure to search Flickr and Google for more ideas if you still need them. Good luck!
That is a beautiful sunrise! Maybe take photos of things that represent things you want to participate in, or ways you can participate, or even the word participate found in different forms.
What a gorgeous picture. I love your word, too. It can mean so much. Have fun as you continue collecting photos.
I love that photo! Both for the photo itself as well as a representation of your word. So awesome. How about taking photos of you participating in your life doing things you want to do more of or doing it in a way you want to participate. Maybe cooking if you want to cook more or exercising or crafting or if you want to market your skills, you could take a photo or something on your computer or a letter you wrote to help you with your goal. I am just grabbing ideas out of no where since I do not know what it is you want to focus on. I hope it helps even a little. I had the same problem as you since my word is very abstract. Great post. Thanks for participating!
I LOVE that picture featured!!! it is stunning!!!
as for your word…maybe you involved in family time, outings, kids events… hard one to capture!!!
When I think of participate, I think of groups of people gathered together. Are there groups in your life that you can take a picture of? Good luck!
